Rainbow butterflies
(Tęczowe motyle)

Aunt Rhodesia once said that I had to be born under a lucky star. Uncle Cellophane didn’t really want to believe it. He claimed that there was no star on the night I was born. He noted, however, that he was a bit blind and that maybe a star was shining in the sky.

Aunt Rhodesia might be right. After all, that’s what you say about someone who is lucky, and for me – after an astonishing start to the day – it had clearly started to go well.

When all the inhabitants of our stable were in the meadow, out of the wooden house ran a giggling girl.

– Grandma, grandma! – she called from the door, running towards Granny Kasia.

First she fell into her grandmother’s arms, then she clung to Lucrezia, stroking her on the silvery fur that glistened like snow in the sun.

– Let’s go for a walk in the forest, please, please! She insisted.

Granny Kasia looked at me and winked knowingly. Then she looked at Lucrezia and said, smiling broadly:

– All right, Janeczko. We’re just taking these two with us. She pointed to Lucrezia and me.

I was hidden behind the Arabian princess, so the girl only now noticed me.

– Oh gee! I completely forgot about Niunio! She giggled softly, and Pepe barked something indistinctly and grabbed the hem of her pink dress with his teeth. Janeczka squealed, so he immediately let go of the dress and wagged his short tail. Apparently not a big deal, and there was a little confusion and no one paid any attention to these words.

– We will take a walk to the Violet Glade – Granny Kasia announced.

My legs buckled under me. All at once.

– Violet Glade! Vi-ol-et Gl-a-de! – I repeated, grinning at Granny Kasia.

After all, I had just invited Lucrezia for a walk. Precisely to the Violet Glade. And Lucrezia? Lucrezia had accepted the invitation!

And for a few minutes I was wondering how to convince Granny Kasia to take us there. We couldn’t wander in the woods alone. Such is not for well-mannered horses. Meanwhile, Granny Kasia …

– Or maybe she really understands us? I neighed happily.

“Lucrezia and me. At the Violet Glade. No talkative aunt or jealous cousins. It must be magic! ” – I thought and I felt as if I had not only a rainbow on my head, but also a crowd of happy butterflies in my stomach. Certainly rainbow colors!

Not real butterflies, of course. This is only said when someone becomes attracted to someone. Because then something really tickles his stomach, as if a few mischievous butterflies had settled there.

The entire stable watched us go beyond the fence. Soon we had disappeared behind a wall of tall trees.
